Carbon Reduction Plan
Objective:
To reduce the carbon footprint of SWL Healthcare Ltd by 20% by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2050.
Assessment and Baseline Establishment
Carbon Footprint Assessment:
– Energy Use: We will analyse energy consumption in our offices and factory/warehouse, focusing on electricity, heating, and cooling.
– Travel: Assess carbon emissions from employee commuting and business travel.
– Waste: Measure waste generation and disposal methods.
– Procurement: Evaluate the carbon footprint of procured goods and services.
Baseline Establishment:
– Utilise tools such as the Carbon Trust’s carbon footprint calculator to quantify current emissions.
– Set the baseline year as 2024 for future comparisons.
Targets and Goals
– Medium-term (by 2030): Achieve a 20% reduction in carbon emissions.
– Long-term (by 2050): Reach net-zero carbon emissions.
Strategies for Reduction
A. Energy Efficiency:
– Energy Audits: Conduct annual energy audits to identify inefficiencies and track usage monthly.
– Appliances: Upgrade to energy-efficient appliances and equipment.
B. Sustainable Travel:
– Remote Work: Encourage remote work where feasible to reduce commuting emissions.
– Public Transport and Cycling: Promote the use of public transport and provide incentives for cycling (e.g., bike-to-work schemes).
– Electric Vehicles (EVs): Transition to electric company vehicles and install EV charging points as appropriate.
C. Waste Reduction:

– Alignment: Choose projects that align with company values and provide additional benefits to communities within which we operate.
Continuous Improvement
A. Review and Adjust:
– Annual Review: Annually review the carbon reduction plan and update it based on new technologies and practices.
– Stay Informed: Keep abreast of advancements in sustainability and integrate them into the plan.
